Curvy Girl Essentials For Summer
Summer is right around the corner!
If you are not careful it will creep up and you will not be prepared for the hot and humid summer season. Having those summer essentials as a curvy girl on hand will make or break your summer plans or fun.
Let me share with you some of those curvy girl essentials that helped me embraced the sun and not leave me sitting in the shade, while everyone else enjoyed the rays. It certainly helped with Surviving the Summer.
Body Spray
I like to use deodorant body spray by Degree or Dove. It really does not matter the brand as long as it is the fresh and light scent for me. Growing up I enjoyed using my Mother’s Soft and Dri ( I think I will grab some next time I go shopping, lol!).
Also, the Feminine spray is another favorite to use any time of the year. I think I enjoy the fresh smell of all of them. But since I am not brand loyal to this product I enjoy using the feminine spray from Dollar Tree. It is only $1.00 and it has a fresh baby powder scent. My Fav!
I never spray any of these directly on my skin. Just spray on top of my clothing for a quick refresh. That is certainly needed in our hot and humid summers in North Carolina. Also if you are going out and spending the day at the lake or amusement park, these bottles are very light to just throw in your purse, backpack or tote for the day.
The Sweat Catchers (Bra Liner)
These were a LIFESAVER when I was pregnant one summer. They are awesome especially if you know you are going to be out in the heat all day. Having to get my bras from a specialty shop the associate working there recommended these bra liners by Pambra’s and I love them!
The company also sells tummy liners, nursing liners (washable), single or double mastectomy liners as well.
They’re easy to apply, wash and keep you feeling fresh. Definitely a curvy girl essential for the summer time!
Stop the Chub Rub
What is helpful for me and (also my babies if they had a diaper rash) is just some plain ole A&D Ointment to prevent any chafing or skin irritation. This has been extremely helpful for me over the years no matter which season it may occur. This ointment is the only one that I have found that works for me. Everyone else may be different but this stays on hand for me. FYI: use baby wipes to remove excess before washing hands, so much easier to remove.
Sweating, Itching, Burning, Flaking OH MY!
I remember when I was too embarrassed to go to my own Mother and tell her about my symptoms. Boy, if I did I would have saved myself all the discomfort and headache way in advance.
She told me that it was yeast in my trouble areas and to either go to my Primary doctor or GYN and let them know so they could prescribe something called Nystatin. It normally comes in a powder form (or the ones I have been prescribed). Just use it sparely under your breast tissue (or where needed) after your shower. FYI: Please make sure to wash hands after application. *Follow Rx label directions
Another over the counter method (P.S. Please consult your doctor always first because I am not a doctor. This is what worked for us.) is the spray Tinactin. This can be found at WalMart and also Dollar Tree sells an off brand too that you can purchase. This spray works as a great alternative to the prescription strength. It totally takes the issue away! Depending on the severity, you may have to spray it within your problem areas normally the inner thigh(s)/groin, under the breast(s) or under the tummy more than once.
Just take note of the area to see if the irritation is going away. Normally a tell-tell sign is that the itching, peeling, and flaking has gone away. Consult your Doctor always and if your problem does not go away. Also, it does give you a cooling sensation once applied. So spray in small bursts when first spraying to the area. For me, this has been a life saver because it only happens once a year. A quick spray and BAM it is gone!
Shaving
Shaving cream and razors are, of course, a girl’s best friend on the regular but in the summer it is a TRUE essential. Helps keep down on the sweat and that extra hair with the sweat traps in odors. Skintimate is one of my favorites. Although Dollar Tree at times sells National brand shaving creams and razors so keep a look out on those.
Moisturize
My summertime favorite to moisturize is the Skin So Soft by Avon (bath oil). It cuts ALL The ASH!! Especially if you are between long, long visits to get your routine pedicure this oil does the trick. When you want to wear those cute dresses and those strappy sandals the Skin So Soft gives you that summer moisturized sheen that leaves you with confidence. Stepping in front of a crowd or out with your Boo makes you feel like you got everything together and you’re ready for your day or evening.
Skin So Soft is also helpful with keeping mosquitoes away. Definitely, a summer win, win!
I like to purchase the large bottle of Skin So Soft that way it lasts FOREVER. Then I purchase my own mini spray bottle from Dollar Tree or where ever and refill it as needed. This way I do not keep running out of it quickly.
Wipes
Keeping wipes on hand is great for freshening up throughout the day. Especially in the summertime. They do not have to be feminine wipes but flushable wipes are a must. I really do like the flushable one more than the others. Cottonelle is my favorite although I do purchase the Walmart brand too. These are amazing for my toddler as well.
Betadine
Yes, you read that right! Betadine can be used as a cleanser added with a little soap and water. You would use this cleaner very sparingly. Make sure to be careful pouring the Betadine because it will stain your surface if you spill it.
Normally this may be used on an As-Needed Bases only. This will help to really clean under any extra folds or skin and give it a really good cleansing especially on those hot and muggy days.
Also, a lot of information and items can be found on a website called Ample Stuff. My Mother told me about this site years ago and it also has a Surviving The Summer Guide on the site that you may find helpful. Losing weight has helped myself but when I had my first child I was completely lost. I am grateful for my mother’s guidance in that transition in my life with the weight gain of my first baby. Have these items on hand were so helpful for me.
Now being prepared is easier than ever with these Curvy Girl Essentials For Summer tips. Just a little planning and having some or all of the items will make your summer less bothersome and more enjoyable with all of your friends and family. Less worry about the troublesome issues and focus on staying snatched. Happy Summer Girls!
