The very first wedding that I had the pleasure to decorate for was a gold, black and white theme with an elegant cocktail style wedding. I was in charge of decorating the main, gift, food, favors tables, and the wedding arch. Create the bride’s, bridesmaid bouquets, grooms boutonnieres. I certainly had my hands full, for sure! But let me share with you how this wedding was decorated on a budget.
This wedding was on a tight budget, so I wanted to utilize every coin and dollar to its fullest.
BORROW
In order to stretch our budget, I thought about the items that I had already on hand for the couple to use. Some of those items were table cloths, flowers, and ribbon. The family also utilized their friends and family of items they may have had to use for the wedding. Also chipping in to set up and clean up for the wedding. If you have a large bridal party, getting them to chip in will certainly make breakdown and cleaning up the wedding easier and faster.
SET YOUR BUDGET
Setting your budget is something you should do first!
Decide how much you have to set aside for food, decorations, venue, supplies, how many guests to invite and etc.
Setting your budget helps you set boundaries on how much to spend in each category. You do not want to end up spending so much on food that you have very little plates to serve the food with. Or a small venue with way too many guests.
Their wedding was a small inmate wedding with just a few close family and friends. They choose the perfect size venue and decided to have the wedding as a cocktail style wedding.
Cocktail style wedding setting is simply where the table height is about the height of someone standing up without chairs. This setting allows the flow of conversation and mingling amongst the guest
CREATE CUSTOM DIYS
Making some of your own customs DIYs for your wedding will save you tons of money. To help cut the cost for the couple a lot of things were created to help ease the budget such as Card Box, table arrangements, wedding party flowers, cupcake stands, floral decor and more.
I have an entire haul video sharing everything from the wedding that was DIYed or purchased. Also, videos on a custom brides bouquet and centerpieces ALL ON A BUDGET. YOU CAN FIND ALL VIDEOS DOWN BELOW:
The Dollar Tree favor boxes were absolutely perfect for this wedding. Perfect!! Very affordable too! DIYed the flower pens and the Favors sign was made from Dollar Tree frame, letters, and wrapping paper. Adding glitter to the frame using mod podge.
The wedding clients requested something to hold all of their cupcakes. The custom cupcake stand was perfect. I made sure to save every box that I could get my hands on that were great for stacking. I used black kraft like wrapping paper and ribbon from Michaels for the trim. Diamond wrap to outline the ribbon to give it a finished polished look. On the sides are a three-tier stand made from Dollar Tree silver platters and glass candle holders.
