Weight Watchers Freestyle Week 1
This week on Weight Watchers Freestyle week 1, I really enjoy the process. I did not feel deprived or hungry and it was very easy to follow. Weight Watchers new program Freestyle seems to encourage more lean protein, vegetables, and fruit by them being low or zero in points if you have those food choices.
I was able to work out 3 times this week at the gym. I did 30-60 minutes of cardio each day and started weight training. Jason (My husband is personal trainer which comes in handy) switches up the routine from upper to lower body every other day. This gives the body time in that particular region to recover from working out the day before.
Weight Watchers now have “Non-Scale Goals” and this week I chose to work out 3-4 times this week as my goal and I made it 3 times. On Friday I should have gone even if hubby was not feeling well. I immediately noticed that my mood shifted a little because I was so hyped about going to the gym, came home and hubby was not feeling well. I should have pushed through and went anyway but gave an excuse of, I can just work on something at home instead. I could have even worked out on the treadmill at home, so it was no excuse.
I started to feel a little down. That is when I realized that this entire process for me is yet again emotional.
Once you get your emotions in line, you won half of the battle right there!
I noticed the entire week I was motivated and determined to get my work out in no matter what it took. Which normally it seems like any and everything gets in the way. Let me tell you everything did seem to try to get in the way each and every day.
From one of my kids needed to be picked up early to last minute work meetings. It was frustrating and stressed me out a little, but the feeling of getting a little time to myself and relieving some stress made me feel so much better. I was even thinking clearer and had more energy!
I prepared for the new FreeStyle program by watching YouTube videos on grocery hauls, food prep, reviews, success stories, and recipes. I binge watched the night before I went to the grocery store. I did not even join until I got back from the grocery store. LOL! I know myself and I have to be prepared with all the foods needed to start and have on hand or I will quickly go into a downward spiral.

I almost did not go to my meeting this week because I was tired from the work week and did not want to drive 20-25 minutes out the way. Now when I think back on those thoughts, I was thinking all of this before Saturday (weigh-in day) even got there. Shucks! I was canceling out myself before the day even got started.
The meetings are important to me because I am such an introvert but I need that social aspect of it. I need that encouragement! I need the accountability! I enjoy hearing what others are doing to get through the program by their successes or failures.
I always enjoy programs where they give out books or pamphlets of information. Freebies or products for sale that coincide with a program or project I may be currently working with, I am a sucker for. LOL!
I am such my mother’s child. She is the same exact way!
Anyway, this week I am down 3 lbs. Although the scale at home says am down 4 lbs (without clothes). I know, sad! Every pound counts!
We also talked about the importance of movement throughout our days. Every little activity adds up from:
- Taking the stairs instead of the elevator
- Using a Fitness Device like Fitbit, Apple Watch or a pedometer, they have them on your phone as well.
- Parking your car farther from the entrance
- Walking in place while watching Television or in between commercials
- Standing instead of sitting if you have a sit-down workstation or desk called Varidesk (Some people in the meeting mentioned that they have a stand-up desk on the market and that their employers were nice enough to purchase them one. Very nice of them!)
- Pacing, walking back and forth if you work in an office setting and work at the same time
Out of all of these, my Fitbit is the best at motivating me to move more! I had mine for over a year and now I have switched out the bands for some that have cute designs. I enjoy hitting my goals! It vibrates to let me know I need to move, hit goal or etc. Also, the app is very useful for tracking my sleeping patterns, how many days I been active and more. It also helps me a ton anyway at work because it is a watch of course and we are not allowed to look at our phones. It is so important that we are on time. When I forget to put it on, I feel lost! Literally!
Here are some of the foods I had this week:
I am looking forward to next week and all the upcoming weeks! I feel like I finally getting back on track and seeing results. It is so tough when your appetite starts to increase, your portion eating sizes are larger than they were after vertical sleeve surgery. Or I should say any bariatric surgery…..I needed a plan in place that gave me weekly accountability to get on that scale weekly and encouragement. I wish I did it sooner instead of waiting week after week. Feeling like am finally going to break through!!
See you next week!
