Hate Grocery Shopping? This May Help You
I hear this quite often that grocery shopping is a pain. That grocery shopping tires you out afterward and leaves very little time to do anything else or cook. You do not know what to purchase once you get in the store. These thoughts have run across my mind quite a few times and I actually enjoy going shopping. Although there have been times that I hated to go to the grocery shopping. I did not feel like fighting the crowds. I was pregnant and my back was hurting to stand for a period of time. Fighting nausea and the smells from the meat departments, I felt like I was going to pass out. During the last two pregnancy’s with our son Jesiah and daughter Jasmine that we lost at 28 weeks (click here to read more of our story)
I had to figure out something fast!
Online ordering pick up
Online ordering pick up was my saving grace during one of my pregnancy’s. I just ordered my groceries online from my local store that was had this service and picked up at the time that was convenient for my schedule. All I had to do was to get dressed and drive to the store. And of course, make sure that my family was home to take everything out of the car once I got back from the store.
If you dislike the grocery shopping or just simply do not have the time to shop for your groceries then this may be an option for you.
Now WalMart has a wonderful online ordering service that you could use to get your groceries taken out to your car. I wished they had this in my area then but at the time I used a local grocery store called Harris Teeter. Some say that this store can be quite pricey and it can be. Although shopping their sales and using coupons you can really save at their store (Coupons are used as a credit and applied to the next purchase). Lowes Foods in another store in our area that does this service. I have used them in the past as well.
If your not sure if your local store has an online ordering grocery pick up, just simply call to ask for further details. It is amazing when you have so much going on!
Delivery service
This is the best thing since sliced bread! LOL! Getting your groceries delivered to your home. Boy, did I need this so many times in the past!
There are serval companies like Instacart, Shipt and other that have this service. Even local grocery stores like Harris Teeter, Lowes Foods and even WalMart in SOME AREAS. With the grocery stores, the times are a little more limited so you have to really plan out your grocery needs.
I have worked for Instacart and had groceries delivered, so I know both sides to the process. It has been very convenient for me to have them delivered and the company is growing by leaps and bounds. They have recently added one of my Favorite grocery stores Aldi to their list of stores. I am so happy they did this because I love them and I know I can spend the less money at Aldi (Top Family ALDI favorites click here). Many people have said that they felt like they were spending more because of there prices were higher than the actual store prices. Well I honestly did not know the prices of all of the other stores but I do know Aldi prices and they look very similar to the actual store shelves price.
Amazon is also a service that I would love to try one day. I heard wonderful things about it and it on my list to try out.
Try it out! See if you like it! Delivery is a time and life saver!
Organize your shopping trip
Going grocery shopping with a plan and being organized will certainly make the dreaded trip less of a hassle.
Have a grocery list of what is needed in your home. Shop your pantry and fridge to see what you have already to make a meal/recipe from that. Or check so that you will not purchase duplicates.
Organize your final list by aisle and department so that you will not retrace your steps and waste time.
Go with a friend or spouse
Shopping with a friend is always fun! Plan your trips with a girlfriend, your mother or spouse. You can take this time to girl chat about the week and see what each other purchases to try something new for yourself and/or the family.
If you simply can not stand grocery shopping hire a friend or trade a service in order to get your shopping done. Ask your spouse to tag along or split the task up with them. You take one week and then they will take another week.
Grocery shopping can be overwhelming and challenging to the most enthused grocery shopper that loves to grocery shop. Fighting the crowds, sticking to a budget and figuring out what to purchase can be all too much to handle. I feel ya! But having to a solution to making it more effortless is always a WIN!
