During the Fall season, my husband wanted to extend our concrete patio, mainly to add a storage shed in our backyard. This would give the shed a level surface and help prevent dirt, mud, bugs, and moisture from entering.
Well, it took us a minute to find a storage shed that I liked for the space, and of course, I chose to decorate the patio for the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons.

I first started with the colors that would be nice outside. I tend to gravitate towards neutral colors, but sometimes, the neutral color becomes more soiled looking outside. This shows more wear and tear on the patio furniture and decor. And I wanted a pop of color to enlighten the outdoor space of our patio. I went with blue and green as far as the decor.
Sticking within a budget of what I wanted to spend also helped me with the color scheme. For example, I shopped and searched for a durable and colorful rug to wash, and it felt good if we went barefoot outside.

The colorful area rugs helped create each functional section on the patio. I wanted to develop different areas of function in this outdoor space, and I also thought this helped decorate the space.

The First Area Grilling and Cooking Area—It was essential to place the grills away from the house and create a food prep and cooking area. Also, it was crucial to be able to walk from the patio door straight to the grilling area.

The second area: Eating area – This area was necessary for dining outside with friends or family. It was also an area to come out and sit and relax, play a board game, sip coffee or tea in the morning or evenings, or work on your laptop.
The Blackstone and the smoker were new to our household. Cooking on both is so lovely! They are easy to use and clean, and the food always comes out and tastes great!

The third area is the Conversation area, where we can sit outside and enjoy the morning and the evening. I wanted a table with this conversation set so we could eat, work on our laptops, do some crafting, play board games, do homework, etc. I love this conversation set!

The fourth section is the hot tub area. I thought it was the missing piece to the backyard, and it would indeed create a relaxing space for the entire family. During the Summer, I would turn down the heat so it would be a nice, cool pool for our younger son to enjoy, but it took a period to warm back up for my preference.

The fifth section was meant for just extra space to play outdoor games, pull out the firepit, or whatever we needed more space for. I ended up adding a blow-up pool for my youngest. He did not use it as much as I thought he would.

I added an outdoor rug and rubber mats in both inflatable swimming areas to prevent them from bursting, ripping, or tearing from the concrete.

In my video below, I explain how we created our outdoor space. Check out my Amazon storefront for all the items mentioned in the video and this post. I can’t wait for the weather to warm up so that I can enjoy going to the patio.
