Rustic Budget Wedding Ideas
Weddings can be really expensive! They can cost you a little fortune if you are not careful. With all of the ideas and decorations, you can quickly go over budget on your special day. Easily! Looking around on Pinterest, YouTube, and Magazines for rustic wedding ideas. We begin to want to do everything under the sun that we see until we start adding up the cost.
A growing trend now is the rustic wedding theme, country wedding decorations/ideas, barn weddings/venues that many brides are going for today. I love this theme because it is budget-friendly and very forgiving to the wallet.
The decor does not have to be super fancy or over the top. You can find things that are simply in your backyard or outdoors to incorporate in your event to pull off western, country or rustic wedding decor ideas.
If I knew what I knew now I would have planned an affordable wedding for my husband and me, 13 years ago. Since then I have decorated for a few beautiful couples and I know that it does not take a lot for a wedding to be memorable, beautiful and a show stopper.
Let me share with you some tips on budget rustic wedding ideas to get you the wedding that you want that will not break the bank.
Use What You Have or Borrow
With assisting with decorating for this rustic wedding I incorporated items from my home that I was currently still using and items I no longer loved. I know that this is a personal choice to use what you are currently using in your home because it may accidentally get broken or lost. This does happen but I would advise keeping an inventory or an eye out on your personal items if you are decorating for the wedding or having the wedding yourself.
If you are no longer loving the item this is a perfect time to paint the item(s) with spray paint or paint. I love to use chalk paint! Adding some chalk paint and using sandpaper together gives you an instant rustic makeover to anything!
Check local Facebook Marketplace groups or yard sales for others that may be selling extras or no longer needing items from their rustic budget weddings. This is a way to find extra candles or those wooden sliced chargers (everyone wants those but what do you do with them afterward unless you are a party planner).
Ask family and friends to showcase their businesses or willing to help out.
This is a great way to save money. If you have a home church, many churches will allow you to have your ceremony and reception at the church for a low fee or for free.
What I loved about the Hawkins family, they had many members of their families that have many talents and/or had their own businesses.
For their catering, the bride’s and groom’s Uncle, Aunt and Cousin prepared the food.
For their music, the groom’s brother was the DJ and friends provided the music.
Friends helped myself and Faith (we both worked together to decorate the wedding) set up the wedding. They were a lifesaver!
Friends also assisted with photography as well.

Make Your Own DIY Decorations
Making your own DIY decorations can save you money but also cost you a lot of money as well if you are not careful. So make sure to choose them wisely! LOL!
My favorite and I think everyone else’s is to use mason jars for a rustic budget wedding. They are perfect for rustic wedding table decorations. Mason jars are simple and give your wedding decor that added a touch of rustic and sophistication. With Mason jars, you can use lace, pearls, burlap, fabric, chalk paint, spray paint or just a plain jar to decorate them. Mason jars can be purchased in bulk for $1.00 or less (each). This is why they are so popular for rustic weddings.

With rustic budget wedding ideas, the greenery is usually custom made. They can be found in your backyards or along the roadside. What I love about the rustic wedding greenery does not have to be perfectly placed throughout your wedding. There are tons of ideas of what type of rustic florals and greenery to use or pick from on Pinterest.
I actually thought of this at the last minute and to contact a florist to specific greenery. To do this you may want to contact the way in advance and set a budget into place for flower or greenery.
For their wedding parties flowers, I made the Brides, Grooms, and entire wedding party flowers.

Their flowers were purchased in bulk off of Amazon which was a great idea! The flowers looked so real and we had so much leftover. It was a challenge trying figure how to use the flowers with such a small stem but I figured out something. Here is the video below if you like to see how I created the bridesmaid’s flowers.
Also here is a video on how I created the bride’s bouquet.
Saving on Shipping, Rewards Programs, and Coupons
One thing I dislike doing is paying for shipping! Why I am not sure but I will totally change my mind if the shipping is a bit pricey. So I like to take advantage of the Amazon Prime benefit with free shipping. Although it still pains me to pay the annual cost.
Once it over and done with the hesitation is more manageable. LOL! Also all of the added benefits of moving watching and etc. Anyway, take advantage of any free or flat rate shipping that you can get!!
Make sure to sign up for reward programs from your favorite craft stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore and Joanns. They often place their wedding items on sale. By signing up for their reward programs you have first access to their sale alerts through email, mail or text. Also, most stores have coupons every single week for a least 40% off one regular price item, possibly more.
This is a great way to purchase your items a little bit by a little bit and receive a discount off of your wedding supplies and/or decorations. So check the weekly sale ad and daily emails for coupons or possibly flash sales. Michaels is known for pop up sales!! Wink, wink!
Also, take advantage of the programs like Rakuten and Swagbucks that give you a percentage back from shopping online by using their link. Rakuten gives you money back every quarter and Swagbucks give you points back towards earning gift cards. These are great for gift cards of your choice and you can use them towards your honeymoon, items for new home purchases or wedding supplies.
I installed the notification widget when I am shopping online. So I would not forget about it, so it helps me save so much money.
Also, check Retail Me Not for discount codes to use before checking out.
Using free shipping, coupons, discounts and online rebates will help maximize your savings.
Combining your Rustic Budget Wedding Venue
This idea was brought to my attention years ago. My husband and I had little to no money for a wedding but it was certainly a dream of mine since I was little.
I did not know where to start so I called up my youth leader at the time and she mentioned having our wedding and reception in the church fellowship hall. I would never have thought to do this! She mentioned it was a great way to save money.
It is a wonderful way to cut the cost on your special day. Have the ceremony and reception at the beach, backyard, park, botanical gardens, fellowship hall, community building, ballroom or inside your home. A perfect way to incorporate a Barnyard or rustic wedding venue.
Combining both venues saves money as far as decorations, seating, flowers, linens and time.
Incorporating all of these ideas and tips will help you achieve the wedding of your dreams with affordability. The rustic wedding theme is perfect for the Spring, Summer, and Fall to incorporate all of your favorite ideas. Leaving more money in your bank account for that honeymoon of your dreams.
