As fall approaches, we all look forward to the excitement of changing weather, new routines, cozy clothing, comforting foods (especially anything pumpkin, apple, and cinnamon-flavored), holidays, football games, and, of course, seasonal decorations.
Fall decor brings a sense of change to our homes. You can choose to keep it minimal or go all out—it’s up to you! Over the years, I’ve found that less is more in the kitchen, especially when the baking season kicks in, and the kiddos tend to create little messes around the kitchen table.
With that in mind, I’d love to share some simple yet charming fall decor ideas for the kitchen that keep things cozy without clutter.

- Lazy Susan – nice to add beside the kitchen sink to place soaps, candles, a vase with flowers, and a sweet little pumpkin
- Tiered tray – great for adding functional(mugs, stirrers, canisters for storage, etc. )and decorative decor
- Risers are a lovely accent that adds height and dimension to your kitchen’s surfaces and countertops. Bowls, vases, cutting boards, and decor pieces placed in the corners, shelves, or surfaces can also add depth and interest.
- Flat trays (wooden, ceramic, metal, etc.)
- Vases (glass, ceramic, metal) – It is excellent to add faux and real foliage, although try decorating without adding foliage using the vases in a grouping.
- Shelves – Great way to display decor, cookbooks, mugs/cups, and serving pieces for the season
- Fall Flowers – Wonderful for centerpieces for kitchen tables or focal points in the kitchen.
- Pumpkins, acorns, pinecones, and gourds (your choice, either natural or faux): Trader Joe’s sells the cutest little pumpkins and gourds yearly.

- Diffuser: This helps eliminate odors and keep the kitchen and home fresh. Find seasonal fall scents to create warm and inviting aromas.
- Lighting—Create inviting lighting that creates a warm and cozy feel. Warm lighting is my favorite; having it reflect under the cabinet is the best!! This cordless rechargeable lamp is excellent for the kitchen.
- Signage—Keep it minimal; too many words can create busyness, although signage can remind us to be thankful with loving gestures and hopeful meanings. Scriptures are always my favorite to add. There is nothing like the Word of God to read repeatedly and cherish in our hearts.

Add What You Love: Fall Decor with Heart and Functionality
When decorating your home for fall, focus on what you love and enjoy! Choose colors and themes that warm your heart and bring back cherished memories. Opt for functional pieces that serve multiple purposes while adding style to your space.
Wood accents take me back to growing up in a small country town, reminding me of the wood decor my mom used throughout our home in the 80s and 90s. The color yellow brings in JOY, while orange—though I initially tried to avoid it—naturally ties in the tradition of change and cherished memories of autumn.
Find what truly lights you up, whether it’s the lighting, decor, scent, or texture. Then, recreate that feeling throughout your home, reflecting the style and warmth you and your family love. By doing so, your space will become a reflection of the season and a personal expression of comfort and joy.
