Social Media Cleanse Is Life-Changing
For the past month, I have limited my social media time. I see a huge difference, a social media cleanse is life-changing. I first wanted to do this because I knew I was wasting huge amounts of time in a day on social media with Facebook and Instagram.
Constantly complaining about how I did not have enough time in the day to complete everything on my to-do list. If I really realized how much time I spent every day on social media sooner.
Giving up social media completely was going to be difficult in this day and time. We rely on it so much to keep up with each other, the News and our family’s.
Not to mention to market our businesses, entertainment and keeping up with our favorite groups (Some of my favorites for example blogging, weightloss, couponing, shopping or etc. )
As a YouTuber and Blogger, I could not totally do a no social media challenge or quitting social media cold turkey. Keeping current with your brand is important.
Our world moves so quickly and others will soon move on to the next thing. Also, social media is vital in order to keep up and grow in our modern age.
I am going to share with you some tips that help me with my Limited social media cleanse. If you would like to try a No social media cleanse if that would work for you. That would be totally awesome!!
Give yourself a time limit if you decide to do a No social media challenge. By giving yourself a time limit then maybe that would give you an incentive to go ahead and get started right away.
By changing my social media habits I was able to FOCUS and use social media with INTENTION. I began to focus on what was important and get more things done.
Here Are My (Limited) Social Media Cleanse Tips:
If possible take-off notifications – Notifications are a big distraction and we end up getting sidetrack picking up out phones and tablets multi times a day. Wasting time on the current or future task.
Place a timer on what you are doing on social media and then get off
Use social media with intention – If you have to attend a webinar within your groups do so and get off. Check-in with your family and try not to get sidetrack. If you are checking for a special promotion for a particular business go straight to their page and get off. LOL! You get the point.
Think of all of the things you can do instead: Listen to music, a podcast, write a book, start a business, get a part-time job, take a nap, read a book (also to your children), go work out, play with your kids, Study the Bible, Pray, go to school (learn a new course), or take a bubble bath. The list is endless!
Schedule your time to surf the internet: This is a great time to get all of those missing out on social media jetters (FOMO a.k.a Fear of Missing Out). Scheduling your time get all done at once. Don’t forget your timer!!
If you are Super Serious: Delete all of the social media apps from your phone or tablet
Keep picking up your phone? – When you find yourself picking up your phone mindlessly. Scroll to the Bible or Daily Devotion app instead. Install one if you do not have one. The Bible app and Our Daily Bread are my favorites. Watching the daily streak on the Bible app (which is a consistency meter, it is a great motivator) to keep coming back daily.
Try to do way before bed – Give yourself ample time wined down before bed. 2 hours is best! Recently I was having a hard to falling asleep and it was because I would go straight to bed after having screen time.
TIPS IF You Are A Creator
- Schedule out your Post
- Type of what you need to say in Google drive, Notes on your phone or body of an email beforehand. (saves time and mindless scrolling)
- Respond to all comments all at once (or twice)
- Support others through there stories or posts with Intention (then get off)
- Remember your goals!
If you are feeling drained, seem all over the place, need focus and clarity. This social media challenge is just for YOU!!
Social media is a great avenue of opportunities and inspiration.
Although too much of social media can cause problems and unproductivity if used in the wrong way or excessively.
Getting totally off of social media may not be an option for you because of the distance of family or it may be your means of working. I get it!
But limiting your social media will change your outlook on how it is more beneficial to YOU than just a time drainer.
It certainly helped me use my time more productively, with intention and purpose.
Getting more done in the day and focusing on faith and family has allowed me more mental clarity. Most of all Peace! Here is a blog post here that will also help you get more out of your day.
After a few days, it gets easier and easier! You will be amazed at how freeing it is not feeling that you have to be all over the place and liking everyone’s posts all the time.
