Mother’s Day is right around the corner! I know how hard she has worked for you over the years! And how much she has loved and put you first in everything that she does.
Take the time out and show your token of love with a thoughtful and useful gift. I have been on this journey of self-care for a few years now. As Mothers we tend to put ourselves last, leaving us empty. Our families need us! We can not fill our cups, then expect to pour back into our families.
Self-care is a must!!
Self-care is more than just Mani, Pedi, and getting our hair done. It is about having peace, a joy to do the things we love, and taking care of ourselves internally and externally.
The definition of Self-care: the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one’s own health. The practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular during periods of stress.
Now let’s get started!!
This is one of the best….just because gifts that I could have given myself. Especially during the pandemic! Also, a great way to save my coins and do my nails myself. I love this gel nail set with a UV lamp. The polish lasts up to 2-3 weeks as well. I know your Mother or your favorite Mom in your life will too.

This year I really got into journaling. This was one of my newest purchases: Prayer Journal for Women: 52 Week Scripture, Devotional & Guided Prayer Journal. Each week you will focus on a new scripture, writing your prayers and daily gratitudes.
Earlier this year I did the big chop with my hair! I cut all of my damaged and processed hair off and started new. Surprisedly I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!! I did not know that I would love my natural hair so much! It is very easy to do.
Although some days I do not want to put gel in my hair, because it dries it out. Or when I have to leave out the house in a hurry, I throw on one of these turbans and go! They are soft, comfortable, and protect your hair.

Keeping my hair healthy is my ultimate goal. We as Moms are busy! We tend to just brush our hair back and go. I did that for years!!
It is important to wash our hair and deep condition it often. Using a deep conditioning cap weekly or twice a month will help to nourish her hair and also keep her from sitting under the dryer when she throws a load of clothes in the dryer. A Win, Win!
Dr. Teal’s products are awesome! I love to take a bath after a long day and throw some Epsom salt into my bath along with other products made by Dr. Teal. There are so many products that they have, check them out according to your needs.

I love this lotion! I have a coupon stockpile of products and I never tried this brand or type before and loved it. I have a bad habit of not moisturizing my skin. Especially my legs and feet unless it’s the Spring/Summer and I am going out of the house.
Again, as your Mother is juggling a million things in her day; she may not take the time to hydrate her skin. I like this lotion because it is not watered down and not too greasy. Perfect combo and smells great!

One of the everyday essentials that I use on a regular basis is my essential oil diffuser. I love to use it while I am working during the day and going to bed at night. The essential oil combination that I love to use to fall asleep at night is lavender and cedarwood.
Everyone and including the special Mom in your life needs a great scrub. I have several but the Dove Exfoliating Body Polish Scrub Reveals Visibly Smoother Skin Macadamia and Rice Milk Body Scrub That Nourishes Skin is one of my favorites. It smells great and glides softly over my skin leaving it smooth and more vibrant.
A weekly facial mask is a must for any deserving Mother to have the best self-care treatment. Every week I try to give myself a facial mask treatment twice a week. Usually on Wednesdays and the Weekend (remember the two W’s as a reminder).
This steamer is on my wishlist! Recently I took a self-care journaling Bootcamp and one of the speakers that were a Nurse Practitioner recommended a facial steamer to help with relaxation, pores, and dark circles around the eyes. Dark circles are the trouble areas of my face, so when she mentioned this; I was all ears!!
This is also on my wishlist for self-care but I am going to hold out until Mother’s Day and hopefully I can cross it off. The jade roller is also great for eye puffiness and dark circles.
After a long and tiring day, a luxuriously foot spa is certainly a saving grace. What a better way to end your day or just to gift your self-deserving Mom.

And don’t forget the tools!! I like to take the foot file in the shower on a weekly basis to make sure that my feet stay smooth.
Another wishlist item is this Massage Gun. It is much needed after a long day on my feet or after a good workout.
Making sure that you and your special Mom are getting those daily steps in are vital to overall health. I love my New Balance sneakers they are really comfortable for walking outside at the park or on the treadmill.

Just let the pen flow! Journaling is great to write down all of the great memories, daily thoughts, and emotions; that you may be going through. One quote that I will always remember…”Go to your Journal before social media”. There are tons of tutorials on how to start journaling on YouTube. Share with your Mom! She would be very appreciative.
One of my favorite pens that I love to write with is the Fengtaiyuan BP18, Gel Ink Rollerball Pens, Blue Ink, Extra Fine 0.5mm, 18 Pack, Writing Smooth, Cool Pens (0.5mm-Blue-18Pack). They write smoothly and the tip is precise in my planner, journal, and notes. I have even turned my husband into a lover of these pens. They also come in black and red.
Self-care is also about making and keeping all the appointments to the doctor and any other appointments that your Mother may have. She needs a place to keep it all together. A planner is a great way to organize her day. She can read all about getting started with planning here (click link) in this blog post for more details.
This is my favorite Bible. When I did not understand the Bible, I read all of the pink pages ( I think they are called the Pearls). They are stories of women in the Bible and how they relate to us as women today. This is a great gift for any woman, teenager, or young woman in your life. ALL-TIME FAV!! I would purchase it again…my pages are coming apart. Lol!

A new book that I am reading now is called Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer by Priscilla Shirer. I love to hear Priscilla Shirer speak and reading this book will give you so much clarity on prayer, how we should pray, and the importance of it.

As a busy Mom, there are days that we may have a quick minute to pull out a quick devotional book and read a passage, meditate on that passage/scripture throughout the day. I have several devotionals and this one is the newest one. A devotional book will keep your busy Mom’s spirits lifted and motivated throughout her busy day-to-day tasks.
100 Days of Believing Bigger: Devotional Journal
Throughout her day, it is important that she stays hydrated. When I use my gallon or half a gallon (I prefer) I know how much water I have drunk for the day. Also, I am more conscious of the fact that I need to drink or ask myself have I had any water today? It is very easy to grab on the go or take to room to room!
After a long busy day, or just a day to unwind from it all. Sitting down with a nice cup of hot tea to relax would be so nice! If your Mother loves to sit on the porch, gaze out the window or curl up on the couch; she will think of you every time she sips her tea. Taking time to herself is the best form of self-care you could gift your Mom, every day.
I recently purchased this steeper for my detox teas. Love it and it is easy to clean!
As a Mom, I love my techy stuff! I enjoy sitting with my iPad with my Airpods (I love how they sync so well together…my son got some for me for my Birthday) and listen to a course, audible, music, a video, attend a zoom meeting or etc. I enjoy how my apple watch keeps track of my steps. I am able to answer my phone when I run outside to check the mail.

It is so important to unplug for our self-care needs. It is also nice to have what we need without it being a headache or running back to our phones when we are juggling day-to-day tasks. Connecting to my devices using other earbuds sometimes was a pain. Now I love how easy it is to connect with the Airpods.

The Echo Dot is something that I used daily. It is a great reminder for Moms with daily tasks and appointments. It will help her to take certain items out to defrost or the oven in a timely matter. She can use it to help with morning wake-up alarms, daily routines, and bedtime reminders. Also to create a grocery list without pulling out pen and paper.
The Echo dot is certainly a big helper for me as a busy Mom.
Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – Smart speaker with Alexa – Charcoal
I hope and pray that this list was helpful and beneficial to you. Many of these products I enjoy using every day and some are still on my wishlist. I have learned over the past couple of years that is important as moms to put ourselves first. We can not take care of the ones that we love around us if we don’t take care of ourselves first.
Happy Mother’s Day!! You deserve it!
