Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to decorate for the holidays and my home. I enjoyed taping up my coloring pages to the walls and doors for each season, literally thinking to myself on Thanksgiving Eve as I was putting a picture up that I was going to do this when I grow up.
So Valentine’s Day was no different! I really enjoy decorating on this day because it is my birthday! I am sharing some Valentine’s Day decoration ideas for home on a budget that I have done over the years.
They are simple and all on a budget. I really enjoy purchasing items from the Dollar Tree or Target’s Bullseye Playground for few bucks. The key to getting your hands on seasonal items is to be on the look out for them early at both stores.
*For example Valentine items usually hit the stores right after Christmas, before the New Year. Easter items come out before Valentine’s Day and so forth.

Mixing your everyday decor with seasonal decor is great for the wallet. It also makes a subtle change but a statement that a new season or special day is upon us. Sometimes you need a new change in the room.
I love how this came together. Normally this flower garland is on top of my entertainment center in my craft room. Don’t be afraid to move decor around and different spaces in your home.
All of these items are from a Dollar Store. A great combination when decorating:
- Some sort of sign or decorative piece
- Flower arrangement
- Candle
A tip I learned years ago. Turn the books backwards so that the pages give your shelf a neutral look. These books all have colorful spines. I had them since I was a little girl, so they are special to me. I use to dream of doing some of the DIY projects, read nursery rhymes and fairy tales over and over again.
I really enjoy decorating my mantle. Sometimes I like it over the top and other times very simple. This is both.

This particular year I left some of my Christmas trees up for Winter decor because I was not quite ready to take it down. Since Valentine’s Day was around the corner, I just added red roses and a red candle to bring in some warmth and brightness.
Entryway
This one year I wanted to bring in some bling in our entryway. Adding the VDay from Target’s Bullseye Playground was front and center with a soft and warm touch of roses, softening up the space.
Kitchen Decor
Black and white looks so chic for Valentine’s and Winter decor. Target Bullseye Playground sign and Bath and Body Works candle pairs perfectly together.
