It is a few days before Valentine’s Day and you are broke! Or maybe you are saving for a new house, baby, trying to pay off debt, or an unexpected bill that came up. Boy has this happened to my husband and I several times. I came up with 70 ideas on what to do on Valentine’s Day when you are broke to share with you.
Yeah, I know Valentine’s day is commercialized! But let’s face it… if you show up with nothing your wife, girlfriend, or significant other is upset because it was an afterthought in your mind. Which makes them feel like an afterthought as well.
It is not about the Day it is the THOUGHT!!
For me, it has always been important because it is my birthday. So my husband has double duty! But remember I said that we were broke several times during this time. Thankfully I had many birthday freebies to take advantage of here is the blog post if you like to sign up for freebies as well.
So we had personal experience of what to do when you are broke or low on funds and you want to make it special for your significant other.
With some initiative and creativity to add along with these ideas, your Valentine’s Day should be memorable and probably the best one yet when you look back on it years later.
Just an FYI: If it is a true and valid reason why you are broke (I really didn’t know how to write this sentence any other way) and you are in a healthy, stable relationship and none of these examples suffice…then you may have an entirely different situation on your hands. I am not a relationship or marriage counselor just a wife that has been married almost 16 years, birthday on Valentine’s Day, and my love language gifts.
So if I got through it…we got through it (Husbae has a job on his hands) you can too! This may be only temporary, so don’t get caught up in your feelings and what everyone else is doing on social media. Don’t be fooled by the hype!
Here are some examples of some things we did and more!
Some of these examples pertain to after things get back to normal, just to keep that in mind.

Most gift-giving days or holidays are commercialized and they do not have to celebrate. It is simply the thought that counts, a day out of normalcy and to feel appreciated. I hear people all the time saying that they celebrate such and such day every day and not just on that particular day. Well, that would be nice across the board but it is simply not the case in reality. These simple things just highlight how just taking the time out to do small, everything things together can be memorable and more meaningful than spending so much money. Enjoy your Day!
